Install Honeybee-Revive
Honeybee-Revive and its Grasshopper toolkit are free and open-source. The installer will set up the Grasshopper components along with the core Honeybee-REVIVE and PH-ADORB Python packages.
Requirements
Make sure your system has all required software installed and working:
- Rhino-3D v8
- Ladybug-Tools with Honeybee-Core and Honeybee-Energy
- Windows v10+ or MacOS v13+
Please Note: You must have
Honeybee-Core and
Honeybee-Energy
already installed before installing Honeybee-Revive.
Windows users should use the
Pollination installer, while
Mac users should use the
Food4Rhino installer.
Rhino / Grasshopper Installation
Follow the steps below to install the Honeybee-Revive toolkit:
- Ensure you have Rhino v8 installed.
- Windows: Use the Pollination Installer to install Ladybug Tools.
- macOS: Use the Food4Rhino Installer to install Ladybug Tools.
- In Grasshopper, use the Ladybug Tools "LB Versioner" component to update to the latest version.
- Download the Honeybee-Revive Installation File: Download Installer

Open the Installation File (
hb_revive_installer.ghx) using Rhino / Grasshopper and follow the instructions shown. (Note: On Windows, if you run into permissions trouble, try opening Rhino "as administrator".) - Restart Rhino and Grasshopper to ensure all new components are properly loaded. Done!
What Gets Installed
The installer will set up the following on your system:
- Grasshopper UserObjects — the Honeybee-Revive Grasshopper components (.ghuser files)
- honeybee-REVIVE — the core Python data model (PyPI)
- PH-ADORB — the ADORB cost calculation engine (PyPI)
